The Tartan
The MacNeil of Barra tartan carries the name of the island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides. This outfit uses its Ancient colourway. In tartan naming, “Ancient” means a lighter, softer palette rather than an older pattern, so the blues and greens appear fresher and brighter than in a Modern version. Against a black jacket, those lighter tones look especially good in outdoor wedding photographs.
For the Groom
Make the groom’s outfit a little more formal than the rest. Choose a white shirt and a bow tie, a dress sporran, white hose and black ghillie brogues. Add a MacNeil of Barra Ancient fly plaid ($20 to $40 as a matching tartan add-on), fastened with a fly plaid brooch at the shoulder.
For the Groomsmen
Groomsmen can wear the same tartan with a leather sporran and a matching tartan tie or bow tie, or choose a complementary tartan if the couple prefers. Because every outfit is made to measure, each groomsman simply enters his own sizes.
About the Fly Plaid
A fly plaid is a length of matching tartan worn over the left shoulder, fastened with a brooch and left to fall down the back. It adds ceremony to a groom’s outfit and frames him nicely in photographs. On this page it is available as a Matching Tartan add-on, while the fly plaid brooch that secures it is included at no extra charge. Many couples reserve the fly plaid for the groom only, which is a simple way to make him stand out from the groomsmen.

Kilt Features
Triple-fringed front apron, with a hand-twisted fringe available for $50. Pleated to the sett, with stripe pleating for $20. 100% leather straps, rust-free buckles (Silver, Antique, Black or Gold), cotton lining, belt loops and about two inches of waist adjustment either way. Optional hip/seat and fell measurements help shape the kilt.

Care and Returns
Dry clean the jacket and waistcoat; hand wash the kilt in cold water and hang it to dry. Because outfits are made to measure, change-of-mind returns are not accepted. Our Return and Exchange Policy covers anything damaged, faulty or incorrect.
